Well this is somewhat later than I was hoping, but I'm here.
Sorry for the delay!
January has been a fun month. Not many submissions, but
that's not what the month was about for me.
You know I'm self-publishing, right? Well this month was all
about ensuring that I was taking the appropriate steps to reach those goals.
I've been building websites, editing and proofing various
pieces of work, all of which I continue to be proud of. I'm using a method I've
not really employed before, so it's all new to me, but so far it seems to be
working well. Productivity is up as is my morale.
Hopefully I can keep that going.
Going forward I have the next book in the Meeting Each Other
series to release and a 'semi-final' of Silk Over Razor Blades to get out to
betas. Those are my main goals, but I'll still be submitting things.
I have a few pieces of flash that I can probably find a home
for and a short story kicking around that I must be able to send somewhere. WritingMagazine (WM) and Writer's Forum (WF) have monthly competitions. WM tends to
have themed competitions but WF is always open theme from what I can tell. So
I'm leaning towards that.
Oh! Also, the Amazon Breakthough Award will be running again
this year. If you've not familiar with that, you might want to look here.
However, in brief, it's a global novel competition, the prize for which is a
publishing contract and a stonking great advance. Last year it was something
crazy like $50,000. Not sure if it's the same this year.
There are so many entries every year that I doubt I have a
chance, but it would be interesting to see if I get anywhere this time. Like
many things, it depends on the judges. Heh, I'll be sure to keep you updated.
^_^
For me... I guess that's it. I'll be back in February to let you know how it's all gone. I should have some good news for you! *fingers crossed* Wish me luck!
